Closed For Renovations
Jan 1 – Feb 13 all-day

Dear Residents of Saugeen Shores,

We wanted to express our sincere gratitude to the many residents and visitors who have supported us since we purchased the Walker House in September 2013.

We have endeavoured to renovate and refurbish this beautiful landmark in Southampton to its original glory. Our goal has always been to build a state of the art kitchen and create a surrounding where our guests could enjoy special life events, from birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, to celebrations of life. Many of our guests have a story to tell about time spent at the Walker House, and we wish to continue this tradition.

Over the past several years we’ve invested a lot of energy into the restoration of the building and improving our guest experience. The time has come to build a new kitchen so our team can work in an environment with air conditioning in the summer, and heat in the winter. Beyond a new kitchen, we will be upgrading our banquet area with new washrooms, including the addition of a second accessible washroom. The working environment for our Walker House family is going to significantly improve with an ultimate goal to serve our guests better.

Construction has begun and our team is working hard amongst many challenges while construction is underway. We’re attempting to build around our current facility so we can remain open as long as possible! Our goal is to minimize any disruption for our guests, but a new kitchen requires time. The Walker House will be closing on January 1st for approximately six weeks so the existing kitchen can be removed and the interior finished. Our target date to re-open is February 14th, but we will be sure to keep you updated through our facebook page and our website. We are working on a building that was constructed in 1856, so we will do our best at being on time!

Lake Huron shoreline has become a destination like we have never experienced before. Living here is amazing, and our best kept secret is no longer a secret! We cannot thank you enough for your support, we are forever grateful. We are committed to re-opening as quickly as possible!

Mary, Robert and our Walker House Family
